I know we should have stayed in the KEYS!
It was beautiful when I left there in the morning on my way to Hollywood. Should have kept going to Hollywood, California! I drove North past the park we stayed in before in Florida City and then on to the Florida turnpike. It was pretty windy so had to really concentrate and then it started to sprinkle. AH! Finally I’m going to be using the windshield wipers. Well holy crap I had them going as fast as they could and it came down for several miles and traffic had to slow to 30 mph as visibility sucked. I wanted to pull over and cry but couldn’t see that well. Then I wanted to get off the turnpike but couldn’t see and didn’t know where I’d go and there was construction as they are turning it in to a toll road. I passed the turnoff to the Miami Airport and seriously thought about taking that, parking Ruby and getting on a flight home. (Bill tells me that night that “I am home”) Stupid fool!
So it just gets better! The rain finally lets up and I’m directed off the turnpike and its a few miles to Trinity Towers our lovely home for the night. So the office is closed as its Sunday so I’m directed to the night manager’s office. Well he isn’t there but I find a resident who says he’s probably at church and calls him to leave a message that I’ve arrived. So I wait in the parking lot exhausted after my drive and do nothing. After a while I decide to pick my own site as there are plenty. I get all hooked up and here he comes knocking at my door. In the meantime, Duncan is sitting very nicely outside on his leash. Well the manager first of all tells me that no animals are allowed in their park. So I ponder that a minute and tell him that Hannah who took my reservation didn’t mention that detail. So he ponders it and tells me the rules but if I keep Duncan inside, we can stay for the night but I have to move to another site as the one I’m on is leased. Just great!
I go down to the office with him and get all registered and then unhook and move Ruby to the correct location and hook her up again. I hope you all are as worn out as I am just reliving this wonderful experience. Needless to say I didn’t do anything the rest of the day but did manage to fix dinner. Bill had to wait until dark to walk Duncan. He said he almost got caught on this morning’s walk.
By the way Bill avoided the rain and had a nice tour of beautiful Miami! I on the other hand had a fun ride on the dam turnpike!
I better get up and out of here – on our way to Hobe Sound, Florida and the Jonathan Dickinson State Park.
Take care – I’m hoping for a better day!
PS - I have no pictures of this place as I'd like to forget it. It is really pretty though on a little manmade lake.
