The drive from Chokoloskee Island started out with the countryside reminding me of Africa – I kept waiting to see giraffes. It was really pretty but then the road construction started and the smoke from the wildfires was a little scarry. It was a hot day and a long drive but came to an area with numerous nurseries. Obviously a growing area and industry as they were one after the other. I arrived in Florida City early afternoon at the Southern Comfort RV Park which is OK. This is the off season down here so things are kind of quiet. They do have a Tiki Bar but it’s not open except on the weekend. Bummer!
Bill arrived tired, hot and sweaty. It is rather humid – I’m thankful for our 2 air conditioners.
We had a great dinner out at a seafood restaurant within walking distance. Sometimes I just can’t think about cooking!
So today we go to the KEYS! Yikes. I’m excited but a little anxious about the drive. We’re staying at this Bluewater RV Park someone recommended to us. We cancelled a couple places to stay there for 3 nights. It’s about 14 miles from the very tip of Key West just off the Overseas Highway.
The plan is to ride our bikes down to the tip one day while we are there. Of course, Bill says we have to go to the tip! Hope I can ride my bike that far as I’ve not been on it so far. Then I have to ride back. I'm thinking I might have more fun on Rocket!
I better get this place cleaned this morning as we want to look spiffy going down there. Our site in the park is on the ocean so we will have a great view. I’ll take lots of pics.
Wish me luck on the drive!
three days in the Keys sounds wonderful! I hope you have a good time!
ReplyDeleteGood Luck with the drive. xoxo
